Steve has been involved in the game of soccer almost his entire life, including playing four years of varsity soccer at Penn State and professionally with Hannover 96 in Germany.  Steve has coached soccer for over 40 years, with 16 years of head collegiate coaching at Harvard (7), University of Rochester (3), and Otterbein (6).  During those 16 years, Steve won 8 League Championships.

In 2004 Steve founded Locker Soccer Academy with an emphasis on building skill while keeping the joy in the game (and therefore keeping the kids in the game). 2011 brought the select club branch of Locker Soccer, Locker Elite. Along with industry-leading child development experts from Harvard University and The Ohio State University, Steve developed Second Nature Sports in 2013 (now known as Locker Soccer Training). This program combines science based child development with expert level soccer training. Steve was also the first American to earn a Profession Coaching License from the famous German Soccer Federation (Deutcher Fussball Bund, DFB).

Steve’s passion for keeping kids in sports led him to write the book, “Playing for the Long Run”. He spent 12 years on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America coaching staff and also worked with AC Milan’s top team in Italy. Steve has been the only American to be offered a position working with their youth players on their Academy Staff.

While Steve can’t coach every team at Locker Elite or lead every class at the Academy, he strongly believes in building a coaching staff that supports and lives out his philosophy for youth soccer.  Steve promises that every team within the club will love their coach.  He will never put a coach with a team that does not meet his high standards of performance and love of children.
